Presentation – Yogananda’s Message by Guðbjörg Eggertsdóttir
Paramhansa Yogananda’s message goes to the very heart of human existence — the quest to know who we truly are and to live from that realization. His teachings are not merely philosophical; they are experiential, meant to transform consciousness.
At the core of his message is Self-realization, which he defined as the direct perception of one’s soul and its oneness with the Infinite Spirit. He taught that this realization is not reserved for saints or mystics but is the birthright of every human being. Through meditation, especially Kriya Yoga, one can calm the restless mind, withdraw energy from the senses, and experience the stillness where the Divine presence is felt.
He explained that the human nervous system is a divine instrument — the spine and brain are the altar of Spirit within. When life energy is directed inward and upward through meditation, the devotee experiences expanding states of consciousness, moving from body-awareness to soul-awareness, and finally to cosmic consciousness — unity with the Infinite.
Yogananda also emphasized balance: spiritual growth must be harmonized with right living. He encouraged people to be “spiritual in the world,” to bring divine consciousness into work, relationships, and service. He said that success and spirituality are not opposites; true success is the ability to remain inwardly calm and God-centered amid life’s challenges.
Another profound aspect of his message is universal love. He saw love as the purest expression of God and the most direct path to realization. To love all beings as expressions of the Divine is to dissolve the illusion of separation.
Ultimately, Yogananda’s message is one of inner freedom — freedom from fear, sorrow, and limitation. He taught that by turning inward through meditation and devotion, one discovers that the joy we seek in the world has always been within us, as the ever-blissful presence of God.

Paramahansa Yogananda
Yogi Babaji is a Himalayan master, who was an inspiration for Paramahansa Yogananda, he asked him to teach Kriya Yoga in western, they teach us to work with our energy;
“To master your energy body, learn breathing techniques for a better flow of life. It affects the brain, stimulates it.”
Yoga is “The Present of God” with meditation.”
“In western societies, you need to find inner peace, there is an energy of peace bombarding the earth, and you can be at one with these energies of peace and love in a silent meditation.
“Make it simple, and it is your true self that opens up. Open up your inner sanctuary for the energy of peace and love.”
“You need to set an intention and give yourself time for practice, just a little for a while, and then a little longer.”
